New anti-meth law snags first innocent victim. Many more will follow in this guy's shoes. Criminal intent need not be necessary. Eventually sanity will return, but it will take a long time.

WILL sanity return? Somehow I don't think so. I think the nation might collapse before any "sanity" returns to the North American continent. Even then I suspect large portions of the former United States will remain insane.
Well, some of the former United States will remain insane. I'll grant you that.
But I do think that we'll eventually get it right when it comes to civil liberties and the war on drugs. There will be detours along the way, some severe, but we'll get it right.
Compared to our European, Asian, and African friends, our experiment in government is very young. There are many more mistakes to make before sanity takes hold. We're in our teen years and have yet to get our proper comeuppance.
