"The lion didn't roar When Mary walked by." (paraphrasing due to ravages of time)
That was a short verse my Uncle Hal learned in grade school as part of an assignment. The shortness appealed to him, and as a seven or eight year old he had no idea about the reference or how his overly-devout teacher would react at the reference to the legend of the lions at the NY library getting up and roaring if a real virgin ever walked by. He didn't understand the beating until many years later. It remains a family story to this day.
I've never heard that story! Pretty damn funny. Shawn was really excited about getting to the library. I had to go back and grab some pictures of it for her when I was out and about.
