I found this a long tme ago, but was reminded of it today when I went to Joe Jackson's site. A few years ago Jackson began to consider the idea of giving up his tobacco habit. He started looking into the barage of claims by anti-smoking fundamentalists and he came to very different conclusions. Recently, he's been trying to assist people in fighting the anti-smoking laws that bar smokers from restaurants and clubs, etc. Note: I am not a tobacco smoker and never have been one. I do believe that some of the new laws are over the top and unnecessary government interference in how people live their lives and run their businesses.
You can read an essay from Jackson here. Even if you disagree with his views, it's a good read.
