Kinky Friedman update

There is hope for this world. Clip:

This Thursday, Kinky will announce that his name will appear on the November ballot as he turns in tens of thousands of YOUR signatures to the Secretary of State.

How many signatures, you ask?

Check our web site this Thursday afternoon to find out. Or, if you can make your way to Austin, meet Kinky at High Noon for a rally and press conference on the steps of the Texas Secretary of State building in downtown Austin. The office is located on Brazos St. between 10th and 11th Streets.

Kinky's website does not indicate that he supports a wall on the border. He does favor the Bush plan of allowing the current workers to stay and creating a guest worker program.

I disagree with him on this point. My take is that workers should be allowed to move freely across borders and should not automatically be treated as criminals or infants. There should be reasonable checks for criminals. Everyone else should be allowed to cross. I would advocate a test program within the NAFTA countries.

But, I do like Kinky's policies on teachers, gay rights, and abortion.

As far as his views on Bush's foreign policy? I disagree with him. However, I wouldn't vote for the man to be president and he's not running for that office. He's running for governor. As far as I can see, Texas, like most states, could use a shake up in the political system and I'm all for that. Plus, as the Kinkster himself notes: Texas is a state with a weak governor. Hell, Republican governors haven't been able to completely destroy that state (the legislature's done a heckova job, though), so Kinky won't either.

PS - I took a look at your blog and the resources you site. I notice that you conveniently leave out references where Kinky is quoted as saying he favors Democratic policies, particularly on social issues.

When you quote something and leave out a portion, you should use the common "..." to indicate that some part of the quote has been edited. Yet, you haven't done that. This is deceptive and unhelpful to the overall picture of the candidate.
